    Amaretti

    Our chocolate the Italian way

Our Amaretti recipe blends traditional craftsmanship with Swiss chocolate expertise. With meticulous attention to detail, each Amaretti is individually shaped by hand and dipped in finest Swiss chocolate. Only natural, fresh ingredients are used in order to ensure unparalleled indulgence. Whether as the classic version with airy kirsch mousse and exquisite grand cru chocolate, or one of the seasonal flavours – our Amaretti provide for gustatory delights à la Italianità.

A fresh interpretation of the Italian classic

Our Sprüngli Amaretti is now supplemented by four enticing flavours of the Italian almond cookie: Amaretti Chocolat, Champagne, Cocos and Limoncello. One of the four varieties will be available each quarter alongside the classic Amaretti Kirsch.

For her, the Italian almond cookies, enhanced with melt-in-the-mouth Swiss chocolate, taste best with a good strong coffee.

Caffè e Dolci – Coffee indulgence Italian-style

Caffè e Dolci – Coffee indulgence Italian-style

Coffee culture and exquisite pastries are an essential aspect of life in Italy. Amaretti, for instance, are simply superb with a strong espresso or a frothy milk coffee.

Rosalia P., who works at our Café&Restaurant on Paradeplatz, is from Italy and likes to enjoy our Amaretti with a cappuccino.

This is what she has to say about the art of Italian coffee culture:

1. A real Italian drinks coffee at the bar and not sitting at a table.

2. In bars, coffee is often served with a small glass of water. The water is supposed to be drunk first to cleanse the palate.

3. If you order a caffè in Italy, you will served an espresso. A double espresso is a caffè doppio.

4. In Italy, coffee with milk such as cappuccino, caffè latte or caffè macchiato is only enjoyed first thing or in the early morning – preferably on a picturesque piazza. Milky coffee is usually accompanied by airy pastries: Amaretti or a light breakfast make an ideal match. After noon in Italy, people normally only drink espresso, i.e. caffè.

5. Normal filter coffee is not common in Italy, but can be ordered as caffè americano or caffè lungo made with extra water.

6. More unusual coffee variants are the caffè alla nocciola (espresso with hazelnut cream), a caffè shakerato (shaken and therefore very frothy) or a caffè corretto (espresso with liqueur).
